I love musicals and music-related films

As a teen, I was addicted to musicals. I listened to the soundtracks of A Chorus Line, Pippin and West Side Story thousands of times. My favorite movie back then was Fame and I adored the television series as well. (And I’ve even got an autographed photo from Lee Curreri, who played Bruno Martelli, to prove it!) Some of my favorite musicals translated well to film (West Side Story) while others (A Chorus Line) just didn’t. (Let’s hope they do Wicked justice.) I was very happy to see a recent reemergence of the big screen musical with the success of  favorites like Mamma Mia and Hairspray. I’m thrilled to see other types of music movies have also proved successful. Feel-good films like Once, Across the Universe and August Rush are being produced and finding an audience. Now, if they would only do a remake of Fame…oh, wait…the Aline Brosh McKenna/Allison Burnett script is being filmed right now!
